CO2 Neutral Energy AB aims to become a major player offering renewable energy in Sweden.
The main strategy is to build, own and operate power plants.
Energy will be produced in forms of district heating and electricity.
Long-term off-take agreements with municipalities and industrial clients will provide stable and reliable cash-flows.
The power plants are to be equipped with the well proven and secure combined-heat-and-power technology (CHP). CHP power plants are currently considered one of the most efficient forms of energy production, as both heat and electricity are simultaneously produced. CO2NE‘s power plants will either be newly built or existing power plants are acquired, converted to biomass and upgraded to CHP technology.
Sweden offers an extensive and well developed district heating pipeline infrastructure - minimizing necessary additional CAPEX. The percentage of district heating of the total heating mix in Sweden is currently around 55%. By comparison, the percentage in Germany is currently only at 13%.CO2NE plans to install and operate up to 60 CHP power plants with an aggregated capacity of up to 600 MW within 6 years.
All power plants will utilize biomass as feedstock: predominately wood chips. Wood is readily available on a sustainable basis throughout Sweden. CO2NE generates heat and electricity CO2-neutrally, as only the amount of CO2 that has been previously consumed and stored during the growth of the trees is released during the combustion process.
Next to the sale of district heat and electricity at the Scandinavian electricity exchange (NORDPOOL), CO2NE will be eligible to profit from Sweden’s support for establishing renewable energy sources. Electricity Certificates (EL-CERTS) will further increase CO2NE’s revenues.
